The squad gained three points in the latest update and is ahead of New Zealand by two.
India have moved up a place to the third spot in the official International Cricket Council ODI rankings. ICC announced the new positions following its annual update to the table on Monday.
The squad gained three points in the latest update. India’s 117 points placed them above New Zealand, who gained only three points and are currently in fourth place with 115.
South Africa and Australia retained their top two positions on the table. Eighth-ranked Pakistan opened up a nine-point advantage over West Indies in the ninth spot.
England and the seven-highest ranked teams on September 30 this year will qualify for the World Cup in 2019. This annual update reflects the teams’ recent form, with results older than May 1, 2014, being discarded.
