CBI arrests income tax commissioner and five others in an alleged bribery case

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday arrested an income tax commissioner and five others on graft charges, reported ANI. Commissioner of income-tax (Appeals) BB Rajendra Prasad allegedly took a bribe to pass a favourable order in a case related to the Balaji Trust in Mumbai, according to The Indian Express.
The CBI sleuths also seized more than Rs 1.5 crore from those arrested. The agency is also believed to have seized over Rs 19 crore during its raids on the Mumbai office of Essar Investments Limited on Tuesday. Essar is a trustee in Balaji Trust.
