Mercedes-Benz India records best ever sales in June quarter, reports 18% growth from last year
Between January and June this year, the German luxury carmaker sold a record 7,171 units.
Luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz on Friday reported record sales in India at 3,521 units in the April to June quarter. The company said it had recorded a growth of 18% compared to the same period of the previous financial year. In June alone, the company recorded 40% growth in sales – just before the Goods and Services Tax was rolled out.
“We continue our leadership position in the Indian luxury car market,” Roland Folger, the managing director and chief executive officer of Mercedes-Benz India, said in a statement. “This sales performance further strengthens our customer-centric strategy, which is bearing fruit.”
Between January and June this year, the German automaker sold a record 7,171 units, while it had sold 6,597 units in the same period last year.
Folger said the SUV segment that comprises GLA, GLC, GLE and GLS models recorded a robust growth between January and June this year. “It is most satisfying to witness that our product introductions were highly appreciated by customers leading to a steady growth across the NGCs, sedans, SUVs and the performance cars,” he said.
