The Kerala Police on Monday arrested Malayalam actor Dileep in connection with the alleged abduction and assault of a female co-star. He was taken into custody officers found a photograph of key suspect Pulsar Suni from one of Dileep’s shooting locations, reported The News Minute.

The police said the photograph proved that Suni and Dileep knew each other – an allegation the actor had refuted on June 29 when he was questioned for more than 12 hours. The photograph is from a club in Thrissur where Dileep was shooting for his recent film Georgettan’s Pooram. The police have also recorded statements of technicians and others from the production team.

It is alleged that Dileep and director Nadirshah had hired Suni – the actress’ driver who was sacked – and others to carry out the crime. The two are believed to have had a tiff with the female actor over some business deals years ago, after which they hatched the conspiracy, according to The Indian Express.

Nadirshah is expected to be arrested soon, according to reports.

Dileep’s involvement in the case came to light after a letter, purportedly written by Suni, was leaked to the media. In the letter, Suni had asked the accused for monetary help, reported The Indian Express. He had also mentioned visiting a shop in Kakkanad locality, where Dileep’s wife Kavya Madhavan runs her online clothing store. The police then raided the Laksyah store.

The incident took place on February 17. A group of men had allegedly waylaid the woman’s vehicle in Athani, Angamaly, in Kerala’s Ernakulam district. They then took photos of her as they harassed her and fled with the car when they reached Palarivattom.
