An Indian Army soldier was killed in cross-border firing across the Line of Control in Jammu and Kashmir’s Rajouri district on Saturday, The Indian Express reported. The soldier, identified as Lance Naik Mohammed Naseer, was killed in an alleged ceasefire violation by Pakistan. His body will be moved to Rajouri district hospital for a post mortem, reported the Greater Kashmir.

The Pakistan army opened fire along the LoC in Balakote and Turkundi areas of Rajouri, said an army official, according to Greater Kashmir.

In another incident, suspected militants hurled a grenade at the state police and a Central Reserve Police Force’s patrol in Kulgam’s Laroo district, reported ANI. One CRPF personnel was reported to be injured. A suspect, who allegedly confessed to the crime, was later handed over to the Kulgam police.

On Wednesday, two Indian Army soldiers had succumbed to their wounds, shortly after they were shot at by militants in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district.

In another gunfight, the Pakistan Army had allegedly violated the ceasefire in Poonch on Wednesday. Villages and forward posts along the LoC were targeted with mortars and small firearms, reported The Times of India.
