Kulbhushan Jadhav’s clemency appeal denied, says Pakistan Army
Islamabad’s chief of army staff take a decision on the imprisoned Indian naval officer’s appeal, a statement said.
Pakistan’s Army on Sunday said its military appellate court rejected imprisoned naval officer Kubhushan Jadhav’s clemency appeal, ANI reported. The appeal is now with Islamabad’s chief of army staff.
“The COAS is looking at each aspect of Kulbhushan Jadhav’s appeal and will decide on its merits,” ANI quoted a statementby issued by the Pakistani Army.
On July 13, Pakistan’s Foreign Office had said it was considering granting the prisoner’s mother, Avantika Jadhav, a visa to the country.
Jadhav was arrested from Pakistan’s Balochistan province in March 2016 and was sentenced to death by a Pakistani military court on charges of espionage and terrorism in April 2017.
