Bengaluru: Two white tigers maul caretaker to death at Bannerghatta National Park
The 40-year-old man was hired last week.
A 40-year-old staffer at Bengaluru’s Bannerghatta National Park was mauled to death by two white tigers on Saturday, ANI reported. The man, Anjaneya, had joined as a caretaker at the national park last week.
The two tigers attacked him when he entered the cage to remove the remnants of food on Saturday evening, The Times of India reported. He had not realised the tigers were inside the cage at the time.
According to an official, one of the tigers jumped on Anjaneya and bit his neck, after which the other one joined. “When Anjaneya started screaming, the tigers got enraged and took him into the safari area. He succumbed to the injuries,” the official was quoted as saying.
A police complaint has been registered.
In May, two Central Reserve Police Force men were trampled to death by a wild elephant in at a training camp next to the Bannerghatta Park.
