Delhi police de-seal hotel suite where Sunanda Pushkar was found dead
The metropolitan magistrate had given the police six days to comply with the order.
The five-star hotel suite where Sunanda Pushkar was found dead in 2014 has been de-sealed, a court in Delhi was informed on Monday. Pushkar, a businesswoman and Congress leader Shashi Tharoor’s wife, was found dead in room 345 of Delhi’s Leela Palace on January 17, 2014.
The magistrate disposed of the petition after he was informed of the development.
On October 10, metropolitan magistrate Dharmender Singh gave the Delhi police six days to comply with its earlier order to reopen the suite. The police had then told the court they were expecting forensic reports as part of their investigation into her death.
The court first passed an order on the matter on July 21, and subsequently pulled up the police on September 4 for not complying with it. It had then criticised the police’s “lethargic attitude” and summoned the Deputy Commissioner.
