Qandeel Baloch murder case: Cleric flees Multan court during hearing, arrested later
The cleric was made a suspect on the request of the father of the social media celebrity who was killed last year.
A cleric, who is a suspect in the Qandeel Baloch murder case, was arrested on Wednesday hours after he fled from a Multan court that was hearing his plea to extend his bail, the Dawn reported. Mufti Abdul Qavi was arrested on a highway and will be presented in court on Thursday again.
Qandeel Baloch was a Pakistani actor, model and social media celebrity, who was killed in a suspected case of honour killing in July 2016. Three people, including her brother, were found guilty of the murder in December.
The cleric was made a suspect later on the request of Baloch’s father.
In the court on Wednesday, the judge had reserved his decision for some time, but before he could give his verdict, Qavi fled with the help of some lawyers. His application for extension in his bail was later rejected.
