The man suspected to be behind the murder of his friend, whose body was found chopped into pieces inside a refrigerator in his apartment in Delhi on October 14, was arrested from Odisha this week, The Hindu reported on Sunday.

Badal Mandal told the police that he murdered the bartender because he thought there was something suspicious going on between his wife and him. He was arrested on Wednesday and brought to Delhi two days later, the report said.

The police found bartender Vipin Chand Joshi’s body at Mandal’s house in South Delhi’s Mehrauli on October 14, five days after he went missing. Mandal had been absconding since then. A meat chopper was reportedly found in the apartment.

Investigators began to look for Joshi after his brother filed a missing persons complaint on October 12. They found that Joshi and Mandal, who worked in a South Delhi restaurant as bartenders, had left work together on October 9.

“Late on Saturday afternoon [October 14], we got a call about a foul smell from a house in Saidulajab,” the Hindustan Times quoted Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (South Delhi) Chinmoy Biswal as saying after the body was found. The team that went to Mandal’s house found it locked from the outside. They broke the door open to find blood all over the apartment. The refrigerator door was left open with large chopped up pieces of a man’s body, the police said.
