Watch: IAF conducts landing exercises on Lucknow-Agra Expressway
The drill was carried out to hone the pilots’ skills to land on expressway in case of emergencies.

As part of its exercise to use highways as landing strips, the Indian Air Force aircraft on Tuesday touched down on a stretch of the Lucknow-Agra Expressway. The IAF’s C-130 Super Hercules aircraft, its Jaguars, Mirages, Sukhoi 230s were among the 16 fighter jets that took part in the exercise.
This is the first emergency drill conducted on the expressway since it was inaugurated in November 2016. A 3.3-km stretch on the six-lane Greenfield Lucknow-Agra Expressway has been marked for aircraft landings in case of emergencies when military airfields are not available.
