Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday called the Congress a “laughing club”, and said that “even a child wouldn’t believe” the party’s promise of zero tolerance of corruption, ANI reported. Speaking at an election rally in Kangra, Himachal Pradesh, Modi again targeted the Congress for its leader P Chidambaram’s recent comments on Kashmir.

“On November 9, you have the opportunity to see off those who have looted Himachal Pradesh,” Modi said. He also referred to the charges of corruption against Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, who is the Congress’ candidate for the post again. The Congress now deals only with corruption, dynasty politics and appeasement of castes, Modi said.

Voting for the Assembly election in the state will take place on November 9 and the results will be declared on December 18.

Modi added that there were “five monsters” in the state that must be removed – the mining mafia, forest mafia, drug mafia, tender mafia and transfer mafia.

The prime minister is scheduled to speak at more rallies in different places across the state next week.
