Pokémon Go developer Niantic Labs to launch Harry Potter version of the augmented reality game
Called ‘Harry Potter: Wizards United’, it is likely to come out in 2018.
Niantic Labs, the San Francisco-based company behind the successful augmented reality game Pokémon Go, has teamed up with Warner Bros and JK Rowling to bring out a Harry Potter version of the game. Though Niantic Labs did not say when the game will be released, TechCrunch reported that it was likely to be out by 2018.
“By exploring real-world neighbourhoods and cities across the globe, players will go on adventures, learn and cast spells, discover mysterious artefacts, and encounter legendary beasts and iconic characters,” the company said on Wednesday.
The game will be named ‘Harry Potter: Wizards United’. Niantic said that the game, which it will develop along with Warner Bros Interactive and Portkey Games, will give it a chance to “pioneer all new technology and gameplay mechanics”.
