Six men allegedly died of suffocation on Tuesday in southwest Delhi’s Cantonment area after they slept near a lit tandoor in a closed truck, the police have said.
After catering at a wedding function on Mall Road till 2 am on Tuesday, the six men had decided to sleep in the truck, The Indian Express reported. They kept the tandoor inside to get some respite from the cold, the police said.
The catering company’s supervisor found the men lying unconscious in the truck. “When the police reached the spot, they found six men lying inside the vehicle,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (southwest) Shibesh Singh told The Hindu. “All of them were rushed to Deen Dayal Upadhyay Hospital. While four of them were declared brought dead, the other two died during treatment.”
