Air India will sell its domestic and global operations together
Some of its subsidiaries could also be up for bidding with the main airline.
Air India’s domestic and international operations will be sold together, and not separately like some potential buyers would like, PTI reported. Minister of State for Aviation Jayant Sinha stated this to the media on Friday. “Even if they are offered separately, if you want to bid for each one of them and re-integrate them, we are providing flexibility,” he said.
Some of its subsidiaries – like Air India Express and Alliance Air – could also be up for bidding with the main airline. Sinha said that the process of giving the assets to a successful bidder will be done in six to eight months, Mint reported.
“We are in the process of working out exactly which subsidiaries will be with the airline and which will be offered separately,” Sinha said. “We are providing flexibility in the bidding process.”
IndiGo and Tata are among those who have expressed interest in buying the airline, which is almost Rs 49,000 crore in debt.
