Jaipur court sentences eight Lashkar-e-Taiba militants to life imprisonment
Three of the eight convicts are Pakistani nationals.
A Jaipur court on Wednesday sentenced eight Lashkar-e-Taiba militants to life imprisonment, and imposed a fine of Rs 2 lakh each on the convicts, PTI reported. The court had convicted the militants on November 30 for conspiracy, recruitment of terror activists and being members of a terrorist organisation.
Three of those convicted – Asgar Ali, Shakkar Ulla and Shahid Iqbal – are of Pakistani nationality, The Indian Express reported. The others have been identified as Babu alias Nishachand Ali, Hafiz Abdul, Pawan Puri, Arun Jain, and Kabil. All eight were in touch with a Lashkar-e-Taiba commander in Pakistan, the daily reported.
The Rajasthan Anti-Terrorism Squad had arrested the militants in 2010 based on inputs by intelligence agencies, which had intercepted telephone conversations between the men and the Lashkar-e-Taiba commander.
