Gujarat elections: Priest campaigning for BJP attacked in Junagadh district
Bhaktiprasad was on his way home after addressing a public meeting when he was attacked near Kotda village in Visavadar Assembly constituency.
A priest campaigning for the Bharatiya Janata Party ahead of the Gujarat Assembly elections was attacked in Junagadh district on Thursday night, NDTV reported.
Bhaktiprasad, a priest of the Swaminarayan Gurukul, was attacked by unidentified people near Kotda village in Visavadar Assembly constituency while he was on his way home after addressing a public meeting. The priest has been hospitalised.
Bhaktiprasad alleged that the Congress was behind the attack. His supporters said that the attackers’ car had Congress propaganda material.
The head priest of the Swaminarayan Temple at Vadtal in Gujarat’s Kheda district had urged devotees to vote for the BJP as the temple authorities were indebted to the government, The Indian Express reported.
