Hardik Patel, 50 supporters booked for holding roadshow without police permission in Gujarat
The rally was held three days before the second phase of the Gujarat Assembly polls.
The Ahmedabad police on Wednesday booked Patidar leader Hardik Patel and 50 of his supporters for holding a roadshow on December 11 without police permission, PTI reported.
“Patel and his supporters have been booked for disobeying a police order,” Bopal Police Inspector I H Gohil said.
The police had denied Patel permission for a roadshow, but the Patidar leader and his supporters took to the streets on their bikes, Gohil said. The rally was held three days before the second phase of the Gujarat Assembly polls. It started from Bopal, on the outskirts of Ahmedabad, and ended 15 km later, at Nikol.
Soon after the roadshow, Police Commissioner A K Singh – who had also not given permission to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Congress chief Rahul Gandhi to hold rallies in the city – said he would take action against Patel.
