As many as six men allegedly gangraped a 40-year-old woman in Rajasthan’s Baran district in February, PTI reported. The men also filmed the crime and uploaded it on social media.

The victim filed a police complaint on March 5 after she came to know of the video, Baran Station House Officer (women’s police station) Anis Ahamed said.

The complainant said that around a month ago, when she reached Baran to visit her in-laws’ family, a person named Chetan Meena (21), who was known to her, took her on his motorbike to an isolated place near Samaspura village, on the pretext of dropping her home. However, five other men joined Meena there, and the six then took turns raping her.

The complainant alleged that the six men dropped her near her in-laws’ house the next day and threatened to kill her family if she told them about the incident. The woman said she had gathered the courage to report the gangrape only after she found that the video had been uploaded on social media.

Anis Ahamed said the complainant’s statement would be recorded before a magistrate on Monday. He said the case had been handed over to the deputy superintendent of police in Baran.
