India successfully tested the BrahMos supersonic cruise missile from Rajasthan’s Pokhran on Thursday morning.
BrahMos is the world’s fastest supersonic missile, flying at almost three times the speed of sound. The guided cruise missile is being developed jointly by India and Russia, and is named after two rivers – India’s Brahmaputra and the Russian Moskva.
“Formidable Supersonic Cruise Missile BrahMos was successfully flight tested at 8.42 am at the Pokhran test range,” the Ministry of Defence said, adding that the strike weapon hit its target “with pin-point accuracy”.
The successful test comes just months after the missile was test-firedfrom a Sukhoi-30MKI fighter jet in November 2017.
