Pune: Two BJP legislators caught snacking when PM Modi and other party leaders observe fast
Bhimrao Tapkir said he was attending a meeting when he unintentionally ate some chips.
Two legislators of the Bharatiya Janata Party in Pune were found eating when Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other party leaders observed day-long fast across India on Thursday. The BJP held a protest against the disruption during the recently concluded Budget Session of Parliament.
A video clip surfaced on social media showing Bhimrao Tapkir and Sanjay Bhegade eating sandwiches and chips during a meeting in the Pune Council Hall.
“While we were attending the meeting, the snacks were served to us as a part of the protocol,” Tapkir told DNA. “We were so engrossed in the meeting that we unintentionally ate some chips.”
Meanwhile, in Uttarakhand, BJP leader Harak Singh Rawat was seen eating at an event while the BJP fast was going on, ANI reported. He said he had eaten cashews at an event by mistake.
This comes after the BJP shared a picture of Delhi Congress leaders Ajay Maken, Haroon Yusuf and Arvinder Singh Lovely, allegedly having a big meal before the Congress began their fast. The Congress held their fast on Monday to protest the alleged atrocities committed against Dalits and minorities under the Narendra Modi government.
