Kerala Police arrest man in Tamil Nadu for raping a 6-year-old from Assam
The child visited the home of the accused to watch TV when he assaulted her, the police said.
The Kerala Police on Wednesday arrested a man for allegedly raping a six-year-old girl in his home in Ernakulam district’s Perumbavoor in March. The police said Chandana Kumar went into hiding after raping the child, but was tracked to Tirunelveli in Tamil Nadu, The Times of India reported.
According to the police, on March 31, the girl, who is from Assam, visited the home of the accused with her brother to watch television. Kumar asked her brother to go to a nearby canal and get some fish, after which he assaulted the girl, the Deccan Chronicle reported.
“The girl has no grievous injury on her body.” Faisal PA, the superintendent of police in Perumbavoor told The Times of India. “We have booked the accused for rape and under sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act.”
Reports said the girl and her brother were staying with their aunt as their parents were undergoing treatment at the Ernakulam Medical College.
