Jammu and Kashmir: Civilian killed after suspected militants fire at CRPF personnel in Anantnag
Meanwhile, the police confirmed that Jaish-e-Muhammad commander Mufti Yasir was among the four suspected militants killed in Tuesday’s encounter in Tral.
A civilian died after suspected militants opened fire at Central Reserve Police Force personnel in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday, Rising Kashmir reported. A jawan was injured in the incident.
The suspected militants opened fire when security forces signalled the car they were in to stop so that it could be searched, PTI quoted an unidentified police officer as saying. The civilian was identified as Shafiq Shabir Shah, a resident of Shopian district’s Khargund area.
Meanwhile, Director General of Police SP Vaid on Thursday confirmed that Jaish-e-Muhammad operation commander Mufti Yasir was among the four suspected militants killed in a gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Tuesday.
A soldier and a state police constable were also killed and two soldiers were injured in the eight-hour long gunfight on Tuesday. The Army’s 42 Rashtriya Rifles unit, the Jammu and Kashmir Police and the CRPF were involved in a joint operation against the militants on Tuesday morning.
