A bomb went off at the office of a hydroelectricity project being developed with India’s assistance in Nepal on Saturday night, weeks before Prime Minister Narendra Modi is to inaugurate it, PTI reported. A district official said the blast damaged the compound wall of the Arun III hydroelectric power plant’s office in Tumlingtar, nearly 500 km from Kathmandu.

No one was injured in the blast and an investigation had been launched, Siva Raj Joshi, chief district officer of the Sankhuwasabha said. No group has yet claimed responsibility for the blast.

Modi is slated to lay the foundation stone of the power plant on May 11, during a visit to Nepal.

This is the second blast within a month on Indian properties in Nepal. On April 17, a bomb went off near the Indian embassy field office in Biratnagar city, causing a hole in the compound wall.
