Three Central Reserve Police Force personnel stationed at a camp in Bantalab in Jammu have been suspended after a 24-year-old woman alleged that one of them confined her at the camp and raped her, PTI reported. The alleged incident took place on March 10.

The woman, who is from Poonch district, lodged a written complaint at Domana police station on Saturday after a video of the sexual assault was reportedly circulated on social media. The accused had filmed the incident and had threatened to release the video online to keep her quiet.

“I had alighted from a bus around 7.30 pm and was on my way to a relative’s home,” the woman told the police. “I lost my way and was intercepted by three personnel in uniform outside their camp half an hour later. They took me inside on the pretext of helping me but then one of them raped me.”

CRPF spokesperson Ashish Kumar Jha said the woman was found inside the CRPF Group Centre around 10 pm along with two of the accused, The Indian Express reported. The three were suspended because it appeared to be a case of security breach. “The CRPF is rendering full cooperation to the state police in the investigation so that the guilty get punished,” Jha said. The CRPF was a very disciplined and professional force that would not tolerate any act by its personnel that could malign its image, he added.
