The Delhi Police have detained three more people for allegedly shooting at orthopaedic surgeon Hans U Nagar outside his farmhouse in Fatehpur Beri, The Hindu reported on Tuesday. However, the police did not divulge details of the three people taken into custody.

Earlier, Nagar’s two brothers were detained for questioning. The police have suspected that the incident was related to a property dispute between the brothers. Nagar is a surgeon at a prominent South Delhi hospital and runs his own clinic as well.

“We have formed police teams and several suspects are under the scanner,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (South) Romil Baaniya said on Monday. “We have called several people named by the victim in his complaint for questioning. The case is under investigation. We have got significant leads in the case.”

The three brothers were reportedly fighting over the six-acre land in Gurugram’s Behrampur, the Hindustan Times reported. Nagar alleged that the market price of the property was Rs 100 crore, but his brother John and his two associates sold it to a private company for Rs 9 crore around seven months ago. “When I got to know of the sale, I approached the Badshahpur police station,” the doctor told the police. “But some goons involved with the sale met me outside the police station and threatened me to let go of the property.”

Nagar claimed that his brothers and four other suspects had been threatening him over the past month-and-a-half. He also said unidentified people associated with the suspects had recorded a video of him. The last such incident occurred the day before the shooting when one of the doctor’s brother allegedly filmed him outside the farmhouse. “I was riding my motorcycle at my farmhouse when I noticed Ron recording my video and that of the farmhouse,” Nagar told the police. “When I objected, he told me that my time was up and that he had managed it all.”

Nagar, who is being treated at a hospital in Gurugram, is now in stable condition, The Hindu reported.
