At least three people died and five were injured in a shootout between two local gangs in New Delhi’s Burari area on Monday morning, NDTV reported.

The police said that members of the Gogi gang and Tillu gang opened fire at each other from their cars at around 10.15 am when a member of one of the gangs walked out of a gym. Two passers-by and Raju, a member of the Tillu gang, were killed, ANI reported.

Jitender alias Gogi is among the most wanted gangsters in the city, DNA reported. He carries a reward of Rs 4 lakh and is currently on the run. His rival Sunil alias Tillu is in jail. Their rivalry reportedly goes back to their days in Shardanand College when they supported opposing candidates during student body elections. After the elections, Jitender allegedly shot dead Deepak, a member of the Tillu gang, after finding out that he was in a relationship with his cousin.

Sunil allegedly took revenge for this murder by killing Jitender’s associate Arun.
