West Bengal: Girl mistakes pistol for a toy, shoots at mother in Hooghly district
The woman was taken to hospital in a critical condition.
A woman was injured in West Bengal’s Hooghly district on Sunday after her daughter accidentally shot at her while playing with a pistol that she thought was a toy, IANS reported. The woman was in a critical condition in Arambag Hospital, police said.
The woman had found the loaded pistol in a garden outside her house and gave it to her daughter as she believed it was a toy, the police said. The girl began to play with it and fired it accidentally, shooting her mother in the back.
Police are questioning the girl. “The girl said the pistol suddenly went off and the bullet hit her mother sitting in the room,” an officer said. “She is in a state of shock.”
Police are investigating how the pistol came in the garden.
