Jammu and Kashmir: Four militants, police officer killed in gunfight in Anantnag district
Internet services in Srinagar, Pulwama and Anantnag were suspended due to the ongoing operation in Srigufwara area.
Four militants and a police officer were killed in a gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday, said Director General of Police SP Vaid. Two civilians were also injured.
Vaid said the operation began early on Friday morning in Srigufwara area of the district after they received information about the presence of three to four militants. He claimed that the militants were affiliated to a group called the Islamic State of Jammu and Kashmir.
The search operation turned into a gunfight after the militants fired upon the forces, reported PTI. Meanwhile, internet services in Srinagar, Pulwama and Anantnag districts have been suspended due to the ongoing encounter.
