Five people died and two were injured on Thursday after a chartered plane crash-landed in Mumbai’s Ghatkopar suburb. The plane went down near Jagruti building in Sarvoday Nagar, where construction work was underway.
The 12-seat plane had taken off from Juhu for a test flight. The deceased were identified as Pilot Maria Kuber, co-pilot Pradeep Rajput and technicians Surabhi and Manish Kumar Pandey, according to ABP News.
While some reports claimed the civilian who died was a watchman at the under-construction building, he has not yet been officially identified. The two injured men, Luvkush Kumar and Naresh Kumar Nishad, are undergoing treatment.
Visuals of the crash showed flames and black smoke rising from the wreckage. Fire services personnel took about an hour to douse the blaze.
