Mumbai: Woman who was injured in Andheri bridge collapse dies at Cooper Hospital
Doctors had said that both Asmita Katkar’s upper arms were fractured and that she had also suffered trauma on her head.
Asmita Katkar, who had suffered injuries after a section of a bridge in Mumbai’s Andheri suburb collapsed on July 3, died on Saturday at RN Cooper hospital. Katkar, 35, was employed as a domestic help.
Doctors had said that both Katkar’s upper arms were fractured and that she had also suffered trauma on her head. She was on ventilator support.
Besides Katkar, four others suffered fractures in the collapse.
The bridge, connecting the eastern side of Andheri to its west, collapsed onto the railway tracks beneath following heavy rain. The Railways said it will conduct a safety audit of around 450 road overbridges, foot overbridges and bridges across the city.
