Jharkhand court sentences four convicts to life imprisonment for raping and murdering a 16-year-old

A Jharkhand court on Friday sentenced four men to life imprisonment for raping and murdering a teenage girl in Chandil-subdivision in 2011, PTI reported. The court of the Additional District and Session Judge III imposed a fine of Rs 15,000 on each of them.
According to the first information report filed in the case, the four had allegedly raped and killed a 16-year-old girl when she had gone to answer nature’s call in Fadulgora village on October 20, 2011.
The convicts have been identified as Shankar Singh alias Budha, Ramesh Singh, Angad Pramanik alias Hablu and Shivcharan Singh. The court ordered them to pay half of the fine amount to the girl’s parents and asked the Jharkhand State Legal Services Authority to initiate the process to avail of the Victims’ Compensation Scheme.
