The Jharkhand Police on Friday filed a First Information Report against seven people, including five juveniles, for allegedly gangraping a 13-year-old girl in her village near Chaibasa in Jharkhand’s West Singhbhum district, the Hindustan Times reported.

“We apprehended an accused juvenile on Thursday and based on his statement we succeeded in identifying others,” officer in charge of Chaibasa mofussil police station Digvijay Singh said. Singh said the girl was sent for medical tests on Friday.

Singh also said the police were searching for the six others named in the FIR, and an investigation was under way to collect evidence.

The alleged incident took place on July 26. According to the police complaint, the girl had taken cattle to graze in her village when the men from a neighbouring village allegedly raped her. They also threatened her not to inform her parents about the incident.
