J&K: Four more bodies of suspected militants recovered from Shopian encounter site, say police
The militants are suspected to be linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba group.
The Jammu and Kashmir Police on Saturday said security forces have found the bodies of four suspected militants during a search operation following an encounter in Shopian’s Kiloora. The militants are suspected to be linked to the Lashkar-e-Taiba.
The search operation is still underway. Security forces had gunned down a militant during an initial cordon and search operation on Friday.
In a separate incident in Baramulla’s Dursoo village on Friday, security forces launched a cordon and search operation in Rafiabad area following information about the presence of militants there, a police official said. The security personnel retaliated after the militants fired at them. The two militants killed in the encounter were identified as Lashkar-e-Taiba members Riyaz Ahmed Dar and Khursheed Ahmed Malik.
An Indian Army soldier, who sustained injuries during the operation, died Friday afternoon. The jawan was identified as Sawar Vijay Kumar, reported ANI. A policeman also suffered injuries.
