Patanjali Ayurved on Thursday announced plans to sell packaged cow milk and milk-based products such as curd, buttermilk, paneer and cheese. So far, yoga guru Ramdev’s company has sold only ghee among milk products.

Ramdev launched the new products on Thursday, and said that Patanjali hopes to garner Rs 500 crore in revenue by March 31, 2019, and double that the next year, Mint reported. He said that the company has already established a network of 56,000 retailers.

“We have also partnered with about one lakh animal dairy farmers to source milk of only Indian breed cows,” Ramdev said. The company aims to sell 10 lakh litres of milk per day. The yoga guru said that the milk will be sold at Rs 40 per litre, lower than the price at which other firms sell it.

Patanjali spokesperson SK Tijarawala told The Hindu that the milk products will first be rolled out in Delhi and the National Capital Region, Haryana, Rajasthan and Maharashtra. “We will gradually add flavoured milk and ice-cream to our dairy product portfolio,” he added.

In May, Patanjali Managing Director Balkrishna said that the company’s growth has stalled due to the effects of demonetisation and the introduction of the Goods and Services Tax regime.
