Over 36 per cent voters reached polling booths by 12 pm in the second phase of the Bihar elections, which began at 7am in six Maoist-hit districts on Friday. According to the chief electorate, the turnout had reached 36.27%. Kaimur has seen the highest turnout with 50% while Aurangabad has seen the lowest with 43.79% people voting.

A total of 32 seats will be decided in this phase of the state polls, with 456 candidates in the fray. There was tight security at the polling stations, and voting time has been curtailed by up to two hours in several constituencies given the violence that has plagued the districts of Kaimur, Rohtas, Arwal, Jehanabad, Aurangabad and Gaya.
