Priyanka Gandhi flies to Jaipur after Lucknow roadshow to meet Robert Vadra ahead of ED questioning
Meanwhile, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor praised Gandhi, calling her a ‘new superstar on social media’.
Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi flew to Jaipur on Monday evening to meet her husband Robert Vadra, who is being questioned by the Enforcement Directorate in a corruption case. The agency will interrogate Vadra for a third time on Tuesday, in connection with an alleged land scam in Bikaner city of Rajasthan, PTI reported.
Gandhi then left Jaipur International Airport under tight security, airport authorities said. Earlier on Monday, the Congress general secretary, who is the sister of party president Rahul Gandhi, held a roadshow in Lucknow, marking her political debut months before the Lok Sabha elections.
Last week, Priyanka Gandhi had dropped off Vadra at the Enforcement Directorate’s office in Delhi, on the first day of his questioning in another case. “He is my husband, he is my family...I support my family,” she told reporters.
‘A new superstar on social media’
Meanwhile, Congress MP Shashi Tharoor praised Priyanka Gandhi, calling her a “new superstar on social media”, PTI reported. “Given that Priyanka Gandhi has had only 12 hours on Twitter and she has got one lakh followers she seems to be on course to rival Rajinikanth,” he told the agency. “Looks like a new superstar on social media is born.”
As of Tuesday morning, Priyanka Gandhi has around 1.39 lakh Twitter followers, but is yet to tweet.
