Army jawan shoots four family members, himself in Punjab
The soldier committed suicide once the police surrounded him.
An army jawan opened fire on his family, killing four of them and injuring four others in Hassanpur village, Punjab on Tuesday. The officer shot himself shortly afterwards, when the police surrounded him and asked him to surrender, the Press Trust of India reported. The police suspect there was a family feud.
The police said the soldier was on leave from army duty, and had used his licensed .12 bore double barrel gun. The four injured were sent to a Patiala hospital and are in critical condition. A murder case has been registered.
