“Why everything’s as if we never said goodbye,” sang Karen (Megan Mullally) in the Will & Grace reboot trailer released in May. The makers of the wildly popular American sitcom knew how to pick up from where they left off, even if it was 11 years ago.
The new promo for the ninth season is titled ‘Let’s get this party started’. The show, starring Eric McCormack, Debra Messing, Megan Mullally and Sean Hayes, will be aired from September 28.
Created by Max Mutchnick and David Kohan, Will & Grace made its debut on television in 1998. It was one of the first shows to feature openly gay male characters in lead roles.
The last season was in 2006. A hint that a new season was in the offing was given when the cast got together for a public service announcement during the American presidential elections.
Meanwhile, the series that won 16 Emmy Awards will also be honoured at Logo’s Trailblazer Honors for their work in promoting LGBTQ equality on the screen, reported The Hollywood Reporter.
Talking about the reboot and the reunion of the cast, Debra Messing told Eonline, “It feels as if anything is possible.”
