After Silambarasan’s Demonetization Anthem from the movie Thatrom Thukrom, it is the turn of Tamil actor and music composer’s Vijay Antony’s GST song from Annadurai to take a dig at the Goods and Services Tax. The rant compares the tax regimen to the lead character’s sorry love life.
“GST maari neeyum enna vechu seiyara, sollama kollama vandhu ennanavo pannura: Like the GST, you [the woman] have screwed my case, coming into my life with a bang without any notice,” Arun Bharathi’s lyrics state.
However, the song will not feature in the movie, which has been directed by G Srinivasan and stars Antony as a convict who seeks revenge after being released from prison. The Central Board of Film Certification has reportedly dropped the word and replaced it with “EMI” in the film. According to a report in the Tamil newspaper Dinamalar, the song is being re-recorded without the offensive word.
As of now, however, the track says it like it is: “I have lost sleep and my blood pressure has increased.”
