If you are a fan of HBO’s Silicon Valley and spent four seasons dreaming of hanging out with the main characters Richard, Dinesh, Gilfoyle, Big-Head or Jared, you can stop. Because your wish has been granted – sort of.
The fifth season of the television series was released on Sunday, along with a virtual reality experience that provides one-on-one encounters with the characters and makes you part of the team. You can get the whole experience of the infamous Pied Piper house where all the magic happens, or not. Which means you can help the characters out of coding crises, demonstrate the Not Hot Dog app, track down a secret message from Jared, encounter video challenges from Dinesh and Gilfoyle and see how many times you get “always blue”. All of this is apart from the daily activities, including smoking bongs, making toast or playing foosball.
The VR experience, called Silicon Valley: Inside the Hacker Hostel was built by Rewind, who painstakingly used the set’s blueprints and 360-degree imagery of the set to develop the experience. You can only enjoy the VR experience on an HTC Vive. If you don’t own one, you can still enjoy the idea of the experience from the behind-the-scenes footage of the trailer.
