In AltBalaji’s series PM Selfiewallie, fashionista Tanya Thakur finds herself occupying the post of the Prime Minister of India. The trailer was released on Thursday.
Tanya is zany, obtuse and can barely speak Hindi, but (predictably) has hidden depths. “Aapke profile mein aisa kya hai jo aap desh ki PM bann sakti hain (What is it about your resume that makes you fit for the post of prime minister)?”, a noisy television anchor asks her in the trailer.
“Actually, mere dono profiles acche hain, but I think I prefer the right (both my profiles are good, but I think I prefer the right),” she responds.
Tanya upsets the political order by standing up for homosexuality and creating laws against “pissing in public”. The social media addict and selfie-obsessed Tanya, who is meant to be the voice of the young generation, also crosses swords with a seasoned, white-haired female politician.
The show features Nityaami Shirke, Sayed Raza and Beena Banerjee in lead roles. PM Selfiewallie will be released on the streaming platform on April 18.
