Fans awaiting the release of Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom on June 22 have something to contend with in the interim. Universal Pictures on Thursday released a fan-made version of Steven Spielberg’s Jurassic Park (1993), Variety reported. The 17-minute video features clips from the original, scenes recreated by fans with dinosaur props and puppets as well as animated segments.
Directed by JA Bayona, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard and is a sequel to the 2015 blockbuster Jurassic World. The short film was the outcome of a campaign Universal Pictures launched in January to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the series and promote the fifth and latest installment in the franchise. In a video featuring Pratt and Howard, Universal invited fans to submit recreations of their favourite scenes from Spielberg’s classic.
The film was stitched together from hundreds of submissions from 29 countries. The video begins begins with a short introduction from Bayona and Fallen World’s executive producer and co-writer Colin Trevorrow. “As fans of Jurassic Park ourselves, we were blown away by your creativity and skill,” Bayona says in the video. Select clips have also been uploaded on Jurassic World’s YouTube channel.
