Proving that age is just a number, a middle-aged college professor from Bhopal set the dance floor on fire with moves that could rival those of Bollywood star and dancer extraordinaire Govinda. The video of Sanjeev Shrivastava’s performance, seemingly at a wedding, was shared on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter by numerous users. As hundreds of people commented on the video of “Govinda Uncle”, as Shrivastava has been described, Twitter user @bhaiyyajispeaks uploaded a second performance from the same event.

In the videos, Shrivastava dances with abandon to the songs Aap Ke Aa Jaane Se, originally featuring Govinda and Neelam from the movie Khudgarz (1987) and to a remix of the 1970s hit Chadti Jawani.

More videos of Shrivatasva can be found on his official YouTube page, called Dabbu Sanjeev. He told Hindustan Times, “I have been dancing since 1982. Dance is a god-gifted talent in me. I was inspired by my mother Mohini Devi Shrivastava who has been a classical dancer. I have not got any formal training. I won Madhya Pradesh’s best dancer award three times in the eighties in competitions held in Bhopal.”

After becoming a media sensation, Shrivastava’s wife, Anjali, has spoken about the experience.
