Diljit Dosanjh is focused and purposeful as hockey player Sandeep Singh in the title track of Shaad Ali’s upcoming sports biopic Soorma. Composed by Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and written by Gulzar, the song features vocals by Shankar Mahadevan. The song was released on Monday on the Sony Music YouTube channel.
Soorma narrates the story of Sandeep Singh, an international hockey player who was paralysed after an accidental gunshot injury in 2006. Singh surmounted several odds to recover from the injury and returned to play the sport in 2008. He eventually captained the Indian hockey team to victory in the 2009 Sultan Azlan Shah Cup.
Soorma also features Tapsee Pannu, Angad Bedi, Vijay Raaz, Kulbhushan Kharbanda and Siddharth Shukla. Produced by Sony Pictures Networks Productions, Chitrangda Singh, and Deepak Singh, Soorma will be released on July 13.
