Nicholas Cage is consumed by rage and desperation in the trailer of Panos Cosmatos’s Mandy. The action-horror was premiered at the Sundance Film Festival earlier this year, where it earned rave reviews.
Set in the 1980s, the film is centred on Red Miller (Nicolas Cage), who falls in love with Mandy Bloom (Andrea Riseborough) and begins a life with her. But when their idyll is violently disrupted by a sadistic cult, “Red is catapulted into a phantasmagoric journey filled with bloody vengeance and laced with fire”, says the official synopsis. The cast includes Linus Roache, Ned Dennehy, Olwen Fouéré, Richard Brake and Bill Duke.
Cosmatos, an Italian-Canadian director, has previously made the science fiction-horror film Beyond the Black Rainbow (2010).
Produced by SpectreVision, XYZ Films and Umedia, Mandy will be released in the United States of America by RJLE Films on September 14.
