The first trailer of Desiree Akhavan’s The Miseducation of Cameron Post features Chloe Grace Moretz as a teenager who is sent to a gay conversion therapy centre after she is caught having sex with a classmate. Run by Lydia Marsh (Jennifer Ehle) and her brother, Reverend Rick (John Gallagher Jr), the centre subjects its inmates to harsh discipline, homophobic statements and Christian rock songs.

Cameron befriends Jane (Sasha Lane) and Adam (Forrest Goodluck), and learns to face such statements as “The first step is for you to stop thinking of yourself as a homosexual” and “You’re facing the consequences of your actions, and it’s ugly” with strength.

The movie won the Dramatic Grand Jury Prize award at the Sundance Film Festival this year. The adaptation of Emily M Danforth’s novel of the same name will be released on August 3.
