This video shows two visions of what the Earth may look like in the year 2045
As nations around the world are grudgingly making decisions to ensure a more sustainable future, the Indian government recently declared ambitious plans for harvesting green energy. But despite these proclamations by world leaders, many of them are haggling over the emission levels they are willing to commit to, refusing to surrender the immediate economic growth fuelled by burning carbon for future environmental benefits. It still isn't clear whether our future will bring gas masks or clean air.
This video visualises two distinct versions of our planet in the not-so-distant future. Part of an ad campaign called Earth 2045 with the tagline "Small choices make a big difference", the interactive video allows users to navigate from left to right to see two starkly distinct visions.
The advertisement has been made by M&C Saatchi Stockholm for a Swedish pension management company SPP. "We had to invite people to actually get a feeling of what the future might be and to show that just saving for retirement isn't enough ‒ in order to be able to retire in a good world, you have to save sustainably," Linda Elers, a senior copywriter on this project told Adweek.
She added: "We thought the interactive part was very suitable for this concept, since you are actually making a 'small choice' by using the slider ‒and you immediately see the consequence of it."
