Watch MIT's amazing new 'cheetah' robot run and jump over obstacles just like the real thing
You might not think being able to jump over an obstacle while running is that impressive, but then you’re not a four-legged robot weighing more than 30 kilos. Scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology’s Biometric Media Lab have developed a ‘cheetah’ robot that can run and jump over obstacles autonomously, making this the first four-legged robot that is able to run untethered. The cheetah, which weighs about 31.75 kg, cleared 18-inch hurdles while moving at a speed of 8 km/h. The robot can run at 21 km/h on a flat course.
