Get ready to spend more time doing your own bling for your Facebook friends. As if getting that perfect profile picture wan’t enough, Zuck & Co. are now going to let you use videos for your profile.

That’s right, you – and your friends – can now sing, laugh, gesticulate, turn somersaults or anything else you want to on a short looping video, playing continuously like a Vine or a GIF. And, of course, speak – or sing, or hum, or laugh – as well. Imagine the endless hours you’ll spend looking up every single friend’s profile video.

“It can be a visual status update to let your friends know what’s going on in your life today, or it can be your statement of solidarity for a cause you feel strongly about,” product managers Aigerim Shorman and Tony Hseih wrote in a blog post. For now, it’s coming to your mobile phone app, starting with the iphone, and to users in the US and the UK.

Of course, this isn’t the first time a social networking site has offered animated visuals as featured profile photos. Earlier, the video messaging app Snapchat introduced ‘Snapcodes’ – QR codes which users can scan to add a friend on the app and act as their user profile picture. Another photo-app called Phhhoto lets users upload their profile pictures as GIFs.

Facebook, however, will run pure videos, which makes it easier to shoot as well. Maybe we’re heading for the video selfie (velfie?) era.

As if that wasn’t enough, there’s another feature too. You can now set a temporary profile picture – or, presumably, video – for fixed period of time, after which your original profile image will be back in place. Did you feel you weren’t spending enough time on Facebook? Here’s your solution.
